The Challenge: Accurate location information is one of if not, the most important pieces of information that an emergency dispatcher needs. It is relevant on many levels such as the routing of the call to the most appropriate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), for deciding which emergency resource should be dispatch, the quickest route to get to the incident and so forth.
The value for the caller citizen is fundamentally improved when the location information is accurate and timely.
The Solution: When calling the Emergency or Nonemergency Services, like 911, 112, or 311, 211 the caller will be presented with a visual menu of which the user may: send location (GPS), photos, videos, chat, or, of course, speak to the call-center. The caller just dials 911, as usual, using the smartphone’s native dialer.
Advantages (over traditional 9-1-1 call):
Location: People calling emergency services might be too anxious or do not even know their exact location. The caller can instantly send his/her exact location, or point at a nearby location, with a click of a button.
Multilingual: There is a distinct need to serve several languages: English, Spanish, German, Chinese, others (it is required by law, in some countries).
Disability: Physically challenged, Mute or deaf people find it very challenging to report and communicate with the Emergency Services – DialMyApp can easily help.
Nonemergency Services: In certain locations, about 30% 911 callers are calling for nonemergency related reasons, e.g. looking for the nearest Police station or hospital. Additionally, DialMyApp may connect the caller to 511 – Traveler Information, 211 – local City Hall, or 711 – for hearing impaired. DialMyApp will redirect those users to the respective website/page or Mobile App.
Chat: Under life-threatening conditions, e.g., abduction, people can’t speak out loud or not at all. The caller with a single click can open a chat session.
Real-time sharing items of evidence: “A picture is worth a thousand words” – whether a video, a photo or audio, all are available for the caller. One click of a button, the caller can submit as real-time evidence items of an incident.
Additional Use Cases
Another Location: If a caller wants to point to a location two blocks away, or to the other side of the freeway, she/he may point the map the other exact location and click send.
Integration: DialMyApp is a turnkey solution, i.e. minimal effort and low-cost implementation.
Video session: Under certain conditions, we could automatically open a video / FaceTime, etc. session soon as the call started.
Closed Group: Certain population, e.g. Assistant Living residence, domestic violence victims, may see extended menu/profile (when calling 911) or receive a particular number, e.g. 119 only they can use, by authentication.
Notification of Emergency: In situations of extreme gravity, such as earthquakes, fires, terrorist attacks. Public information should reach a huge number of citizens in real time. Emergency notifications are incorporated into DialMyApp.
